So, as you know, some time ago, Zachary broke his toe.  The toe has mostly healed, and he has resumed his normal activities.  And then, this afternoon, it happened.

His toenail started coming off.

We knew it would happen.  It was all black and creepy looking.  We were prepared.

Except I don’t know what to do now.  It is only attached on one side.  Do I rip it the rest of the way off?  Leave it hanging like that?  Book a three-day cruise to Key West?

OK, that last one has nothing to do with the toe, but I think it would be fun.

Please, folks, send some advice.  Because we’re just sitting around, waiting for a toenail to fall off.

This is excellent prep for tooth losing (have you done that yet?). Tie a string around it, affix it to a door, and slam, baby.

Okay, no. Key West cruise it is.

  2. what I have done when I have lost nails, is trim it down close to where its attached and then cover with a band-aid until it comes off naturally…seems like it doesnt take long

  3. We’re also waiting on Mimi’s to fall off. That girl dropped something on it and I think the nail’s gonna fall off. It’s not hanging on by a thread yet, but it will be. GAH.

  4. Seconding Melanie’s suggestion. Trim and cover!

    Wait. That sounded weird.

You know what I mean, though.

  5. Yep. Trim and cover. Calvin had a smashed nail a few months ago that took forever to fall off, but we just kept it trimmed down until it all grew out and fell off.

  6. I totally agree with the trim and cover crowd.

Oh, and sending sympathy because, ew!

Well whatever you do, don’t go to Key West.

  8. Key West, of course.
